The house of sweets- initial ideas

In this ensemble piece, we explored the different sweets that the witches house would be made of. i focussed on a lollipop and came up with the phrase: "Seductively suckable sweet strawberry lollipop"

Analysis of 'The Forest' after watching the film and receiving feedback

To sum up the video: Improvements for me: Being on time with the bamboo duet with lola. Making sure we are sticking to the 6 beat rhythm and pausing at the right time so it looks sharp and affective. Moving with purpose. I look a bit lost sometimes when moving to different sections. Switching positions with Emma (as she is the leader) in the unison dance because i originally stand at the front in the middle. The backstory of the forest: We as an ensemble are representing the witches past children victims but in spirit form. we are still under her curse and are predator like, trying to capture other children for her. This is our interpretation of the forest, it is a dangerous, haunted and unsettling environment.  We are also creating the environment of the forest as an ensemble. it is supernatural and has no civilisation or rules set in place, which makes it unsafe. Its alive and wild. We need to channel this during our pair work, as this is the climax of the forest. Now that ...

Combined arts project Hansel and Gretel

Image
17th November Focus: The forest 2 skills we explored in this workshop were physical theatre and rhythmic accuracy. Me, lola and caitlyn came up with a sequence in which we incorporated bamboo canes that represented the aggression of the forest in the story. We then progressed our sequence to fit into a 6 beat rhythm. Changing our rhythm made us think more about the aggression of our movements, As seen in the video. almost all of our movements are sharp and witty.  We then taught our sequence to the rest of the class to create an ensemble piece. We created this to establish the environment of the forest for the family to travel through and action to happen within. Knowledge: The key practitioner that influenced todays work was ‘the forest’ episode from ‘Sutra’ 2008 by Sidi Labi Cherkoui and the Monks from the Shaolin temple. The use of props to tell the story, including the bamboo sticks, influenced our work in lesson. Understanding Looking back at previous skills worksho...

1st November 2021  Focus: The great famine (Introduction). Skills- We started off with some trust exercises which included leaning on each other and giving into gravity on each other while not falling and supporting each other in pairs. We then built a small duet using the following instructions from the support exercises- Fall and support. For example, i was back to back with Lola and i slowly let my back fall onto hers as she crouched down to let me end up just balancing on her back and letting all of my weight go. Lift and replace. This exercise included Lola lifting me up from the ground with a part of her body. I stood side to side with her and she lifted me up by her pelvis and with her arms around me. I had to lean into her for this. Imprison. This was an exercise which was to have one partner holding on to a part of the other persons body so that they could lean away from them (as if trying to get away) without falling. I bent my knees and held on/pulled...
